APRIL QUEST DOCUMENTS
October 20, 2017
Dear Lysa,
Is it wrong that I can only feel optimistic in the face of this terrible plague? I haven’t felt so challenged to solve a problem in such a long time. The strain was developed here, as you well know. But, well, we never successfully developed an antidote. What better motivation to revive that work than having an entire city’s lives dependent on your success? I’m angry that my work on VIOLET got stolen, of course, but don’t you worry, I’ll get my revenge sooner or later.
I just wish our Empress would see the light, so that it could be sooner rather than later. Given that outbreaks happened both here and in Wyver, this is clearly an attempt to rile our foolish citizens up enough to demand war. The rulers must know this. They would be playing right into someone else’s hands.
But what other choice do we have, but to let things stand as they are and continue getting our safety compromised? Remember how glorious things were when we didn’t hold back the last time we went to head with Wyver? You were never a fan of my Wyver test subjects, or any of my test subjects, but even you have to admit their biology is fascinating. There were days in which I would get up to a dozen Wyver bodies in my lab, each of them different. My favorite development from those studies was learning how to modify human skin to be as thick as armor. I do wish I had more of that particular subject’s epidermis, but the supply has been depleted by now. I hope I can get my hands on another soon.
But I am elated that this outbreak has allowed us to work together again. We have always accomplished great things as a team, you and I. Are you glad for the opportunity, too?
Yours truly,
Evras

Video File #1:
[ The video recordings are from S-8's point of view, and the image of Evras comes into focus. He is leaning down, getting a close look at S-8, and frowning deeply. The android is strapped down for backup safety reasons, but his mobility is disabled, so he is still and motionless. ]
It took you 0.3 seconds longer than usual to boot up. That's no good. [ Evras then jots down a few notes into his lab notebook, grabs a nearby wrench, and swings it violently at S-8's shoulder. S-8 cries out in pain, and the video resolution on the feed grows shaky and momentarily blurred. ]
Delayed reaction time, as well. And such a small impact is doing slow but significant damage to the casing. [ Evras sighs, retreating into another room and returning with a small box of tools. ]
Let's hope your components are still functional enough to scrap and reuse. [ He is about to take a screwdriver and twist where S-8's wrist meets his arm, when the sound of someone calling Evras' name makes him stop what he's doing. ] Is the delivery finally here? Wonderful! [ He leaves the room, and eventually, S-8 goes into hibernation mode. ]
Video File #2: [ This next recording is dated further back in S-8's memory bank. S-8 is in fast motion, and the camera jolts back and forth as he runs through what appears to be thick forest. He is on the hunt, and his target is a young man running as fast as his legs can carry him. But S-8 is never more than a few yards behind. He swings at the man's limbs with a blade, narrowly missing each time.
After a few more minutes, a gunshot rings out. The young man stops running and falls to the ground, dying instantly, and S-8 comes to a complete and sudden stop. ]
Not fast enough, S-8. We've done enough trials now, 13, to be exact, and your motor consistently fails to keep up with the five minute capture time limit. [ Evras looks frustrated, sighing and pinching the bridge of his nose. ] I'll have to make some adjustments. [ He starts to walk back into the dense forest. ] Bring the body. Remember to clean the area, as well. [ The feed cuts off. ]
Video File #3: Awake now, are we? You're safe now. [ Cree's voice comes through a static, and a visual soon follows at S-8 opens his eyes. He's seated before him with a smirk across his face, apparently attending to a broken arm. ] You've been programmed to live freely. You needn't ever go back there. [ He rips out a frayed wire, leaning across the table for a replacement. ] However, if you feel indebted... We've received a job. Shanrian's boy has interest in seeing refugees to Wyver, and... [ The file cuts off. The data seems to be corrupted beyond that point. ]

A dragon's heart must be harvested within hours of the slaying. Before the slaying of Ysverai, Olympians had never broken through the hide fast enough to bring an intact piece back to their grand city. The slaying of Nithor became its first — and last, as the high dragons are extinct — breakthrough in organ preservation.
The heart of Ysverai still beats, nearly two centuries later, within the treasury of the palace. With the technology of the Institute, the heart is preserved in such a state that theoretically... theoretically, if it were to be placed back within the remains of a dragon of such a scale, it would bring the creature new life. Evras, of course, states this never to be in the intention. Olympia holds the heart for the same reasons Wyver holds Nithor's skull — a testament that they have what the other nation wants most.
However, in this essay, I will state the reasons that bringing back the high dragons would be an incredible feat—
