Dust rises in plumes when the door to Shady Brook Books opens, as if the shop hasn't been open for years. It may be difficult to believe that the establishment brings in any profit. An elderly man crouches behind the front desk, nose deep in a book himself. Humming, raspy voice a constant thrum throughout the entire store, he keeps a trail of water magically suspended and flowing through the aisles, its path shifting to accommodate for visitors' browsing.

Disrupting the quiet atmosphere of the quaint store, a crash erupts from a back room. There, several men, their clothes threadbare and their hair frazzled, sit around a table. Gambling, the rules of the game decidedly secret between the number of them. Whatever's just happened has been called into question, a disagreement to be settled by Russian Roulette. A simple pistol set on the table the arguing pair take turns lifting the muzzle to their heads.

They'll suffer being interrupted, but won't be dissuaded from their methods. It's all agreed upon in advance, and they've rented this room out fair and square. However, dragging a corpse out back every few weeks is bad for business, and may raise questions eventually. They'd accept being relocated, if another venue can be found, but there's always a more violent solution. Just be careful, some of the books in storage are centuries old.

When prompted to pay a fee, the old man will look up, adjusting his glasses to better see the pair. As if he didn't notice them when they came in, he takes a long moment to appraise them. Rather than offer money, he'll provide free access to the back room for the Gilded Cage and associates... provided they aren't as rowdy as the last bunch.

These prompts are meant to be very open - if it isn't specified, you may take any liberties you'd like. However, please feel free to reply with whatever questions or clarifications you may have at any time!
