An array of jewels lines the front window of Second Chance, a pawn shop in a reputable area of town. Without barred windows or a particularly intimidating atmosphere, the shop seems a decent enough place to do business. Stepping inside, anything from fine clothing, odd weapons, and antiques can be found scattered in the numerous cases and displays throughout the store. A ring that turns the bearer invisible is available for trial, along with a sword that immediately binds to its wielder's arm with winding circuitry. "Use at your own risk," is the mantra of this place, and the several employees are too busy appraising items to help any hapless visitors who pick up something they're not prepared to deal with.

Among the relatively organized array is a single cracked case, emptied of its contents. When asked, the employees will reveal that they've been the target of several robberies recently, with no consistency among what's been stolen other than its value. They'll allow the pair to stake out their shop at night, provided they leave some collateral behind. It's the pawnshop way.

The group of bandits are subtle, picking the lock and then using magic to shatter glass and scoop up handfuls of contents before making a run for it. They appear to be small time criminals, peddling the wares they steal to other buyers throughout the city. Roughing them up may scare them off for a while, but given Second Chance's repute, this is a venue that will need repeated patrols to keep off similar pests.

Should the guard be successful, the shop will offer payments to ensure their protection.
