This post is for submissions regarding those who signed up for plot roles in March 2018's kidnapping event!

In order to receive special commendation from the cities and be recognized as heroes, characters who participated as hostages or rescuers for the event must submit a summary of their participation here by 11:59 PM EST, March 24th, as well as a thread in progress. Details such as acts of extreme violence, altering the setting, etc., will be considered for progression of the metaplot.

Thread(s): Ashti rescuing him from the brink of death
Summary of event participation: Evras was kidnapped at gunpoint while transporting samples from the Institute to the Palace, and he offered no resistance after being knocked out with chloroform. He woke up in a dark, unknown place, and was subject to interrogation and brutal beatings. Before he divulged any classified information, he was rescued from the brink of death by Ashti, who killed two of the extremists on her way out.

Character name and role:Oliviier Armstrong, hostage group 3

Summary of event participation: Olivier was captured after being knocked out from behind on her way home after guard duty. From there she went from being grumpy about the whole thing to being even grumpier.

Between the torture and the dream creature (in general and trying to fight it unarmed) she ended up with a broken right arm, a massive amount of scratches and scars over the front of her body, and the right side of her face was damaged pretty badly. There was no information to give during torture because fuck you I'm a Briggs soldier she didn't know what they wanted and wouldn't have given it to them even if she did.

And then she was rescued along with the rest of the group. She's going to be living on nothing but coffee and catnaps for some time.

Character name and role: Richie Tozier, Hostage (Group 1)
Thread(s): Torture with Bruce Wayne, Clair, and Prior, and then dying in the middle of Yusuke's mighty rescue.
Summary of event participation: Richie is captured because he's an idiot who thought he was going to get laid but got a rag of chloroform to the face instead. While he's captive, he's tortured and is forced to observe the torture of his peers, becoming victim to the liln, temporary blindness, and most damaging of all the skin-fragility potion. Upon rescue he's exposed to and struggles to deal with the noxious haze filling the institute, and falls victim to dementia as Yusuke tries to carry him to safety. Having lungs already weakened by years of smoking alongside the prolonged effects of torture, Richie eventually succumbs to the gas and dies.

Character name and role: Cayde-6, Hostage (Group 1)

Summary of event participation: Cayde was kidnapped, probably on his way out of some bar in Olympia gambling away his hard-earned cash. He was subsequently tortured and responded to this by being the most obnoxious hostage anyone has ever had. He managed to blow his hand off and generally have a bad time, and was eventually rescued by the rescuers led by Peggy and reunited with his dear, beloved gun.

Character name and role: Mai, Hostage (Group 4)

Summary of event participation:
Mai was chiefly a bundle of disappointment in herself and anger during the whole affair. She gave the shaman quite a bit of trouble in catching her and there were a few of the low-level grunts who bore a grudge on her thanks to all of that effort afterward. She was interrogated alongside Mikazuki, refused to give anything worthwhile and was eventually poisoned. The hallucinations she had were mostly auditory, feeding into her fears that the sleeping aboard the Natha Orbiter's station aren't ever going to wake up and are as good as dead. Mai's distaste for showing weakness ended up with her spending much of her time with her face pressed again a wall, though this was mitigated through Yusei's company and Reinhardt's compassion.

In the end Mai was freed by the rescuers, in particular Kale. Kale put up with Mai's heated anger that she honestly let get the better of her. Part of it was born from shame in her own weakness and part through her distaste for how the shaman had used so many of the others that had been trapped with her.

The whole experience was humbling and eye-opening for her. She had been keeping her distance on all of the Olympia versus Wyver affairs, her only concern being those from her world who slept on the space station. She only tried to make her way through Cree's ranks to gain power to protect them. Now Mai is likely to be much more emotionally invested in the political tug of wars and strife here in this world after her experience.

Character name and role: Riku, hostage (group 5)

Summary of event participation: Riku was caught after being confronted by some shaman he recognized from his work at the Altar and woke to the sound of Rocket humming songs in order to annoy their captors. When Dutch approached him about sharing their body heat, he readily cuddled up to her. He was tortured along with Duo, and while he readily supplied answers, he didn't have much useful information for the shamans to glean. Later, Riku was injected and experienced a vision of Sora dying, in response to which Riku injures his hands. When rescue comes, he is found by Terra and Prompto, who bring him to the Altar before he can suffocate.

Character name and role: John Watson, group 2 rescuer
Thread(s): tagging in with peter & wanda
Summary of event participation: John signed up for the rescue operation as soon as he'd heard what happened. He deliberately veered away from involving himself in any conversation pertaining to the Sanctuary on account of his bias against it and made active efforts to investigate the other options, ultimately contributing to the group's incorrect first guess. When they did reach the Sanctuary and find the hostages, John's primary focus became clearing the way to get them out by any means necessary. During the rescue he opened fire multiple times on escaping and meddling kidnappers, mostly to injure them ready for capture, and in the confusion one shot was nudged off course and ended up catching Peter Parker, who went down. John then spent time trying to save Peter, but on account of a previous wound sustained from an NPC, Peter had lost too much blood and John couldn't stem the bleeding of both wounds in time, so Peter died.

After that, John threw himself into helping with the medical side of the recovery effort, and has been running himself into the ground patching people up ever since. Who wants to deal with emotional fallout, not he!

Character name and role: Linneus, Hostage (Group 1)
Thread(s): Here, there, every-where.
Summary of event participation: Linneus had clearly not been careful enough about his habits, and was snagged on his way to the stables; drugged and brought into confinement with the others of his group. He didn't crack under initial interrogation, so much as hope that being forthcoming might get them all out quicker. Alas, it didn't work out that way, and he was subjected to most of the captors' cruelty, as well as their arsenal of potions and drugs in their efforts to get out of him any talk of collusions or plotting with the outsiders. He did however, thanks to Percy (Jackson), manage to escape the experience with his life if not much of his skin and is recuperating in the Sanctuary, with an idea of being further healed at Thesa once he is in a better mental/physical state. The experience left him with a pair of scars from injected liln, and a few lingering fears, with him now particularly wary of walking openly by himself.

Character name and role: Cam Buckland, Rescuer (Group 2)
Thread(s): Investigating the hostages' disappearance, getting hypnotized and rescuing Sandra the Unseeing, and Toplevel (with more investigation)
Summary of event participation: Cam got himself involved in the search for the hostages, and worked tirelessly to find them, although their group ended up investigating the wrong place. When rescuing the hostages, Cam mostly kept to a support position, healing and helping others, until one of the extremists words get to him, and he loses control. Luckily, he still manages to flee with a hostage, protecting her from friends and foes alike as he got her to safety.

Summary of event participation: Peter was abducted and tried and failed to fight the jedi mind tricks that forced him to believe the extremists were his allies and a few memories of from his life before natha in the process. He was slightly compative with kidnappers until the mind tricks took over and gained a few injuries. He did however connect with a few of his fellow hostages, including Emma and Mephisto. When the rescue crew arrived peter attacked quite a few of them, including clocking Steve Trevor pretty good. Then John Watson shot him and Wanda Maximoff restored him to himself as he bled out on the floor and died.

Character name and role: Reign Fear | Rescuer (Group 2)
Thread(s): Investigating the hostages' locations and trying to save them all
Summary of event participation: Reign joins the rescue team to try to investigate the location of the hostages without much success in the first round, with his mounting panic getting somewhat calmed by Steve and Cam, though the group was subsequently approached by a staff from the Sanctuary and heads for that location.

It was chaos inside with the hostages either turning themselves into body shields for the extremists, harming themselves, or attacking the rescuers in return. Reign himself manages to rescue some of the hostages, shocked to discover that some were his missing friends (Mephisto, Atsushi, Dylas).

While some of the hostages survived, a few succumbed to their wounds and Reign cries his heart out over the deaths of his friends (Mephisto & Dylas), especially a certain demon whom he had grown very close to. He's going to be emotionally wrecked for a couple days.

Character name and role: Solas (hostage)

Summary of event participation: Solas was tricked into an ambush while attempting to help someone in need of healing. He was taken to Namarak Mountain with other hostages where he was questioned regarding knowledge on Olympia and how he managed to traverse the two nations safely. He gave no information and paid for his silence with freezing water and severe burns. After he did what little he could to see to others injuries, which consisted mostly of advising others to try and keep burned skin as covered as possible to prevent further heat loss.

Eventually he was rescued, and did what he could to report the injuries of the survivors before eventually blacking out. He survived the rescue and spent a few days in the infirmary, until he felt well enough to leave.

Character name and role: Soldier: 76, hostage (group 5)

Summary of event participation: 76 was captured for his position as a Ryder and his investigation into the radical shamans, and was overwhelmed by sheer numbers and the use of magic to weaken him. During interrogation he refused to say anything or answer any questions, but did what he could to take pressure off of his fellow hostages. He also made a mental list of the sorts of questions that the kidnappers were asking them. He was injected with the drug that heightened his aggression, and had a fight with Dutch. Eventually he was saved by Ana Amari, who got him to safety and recovery.

Character name and role: Jean Valjean, rescuer (Group 3)

Summary of event participation: When Group 3 arrived at the Royal Guard Academy, Jean Valjean gained entrance via a busted ground-floor window. Soon after, he encountered Takasugi, who had defected to the side of the radicals; after briefly attempting to reason with him, he eventually managed to dodge past. When the party located the captives, he helped Rosalind first, carrying her to safety and re-dressing her wounds. Unfortunately, he was unable to provide the same assistance to Percival, who bled out from his wounds.

Character name and role: Steve Trevor, rescuer (group 2)

Summary of event participation: Driven by the fact that some of his friends were missing, Steve jumped straight into the investigation and rallied his group when spirits were low to keep looking after their first location guess was wrong. When they eventually make it to Sanctuary, Steve works strategies with John, but they all pretty much get thrown out the window as chaos erupts. He wants to keep the extremists alive for questioning but fails to stop Justice from beheading some. He stops one of his fellow rescuers, Slaine, from killing himself as the extremists instruct him to do. There's a couple of hostages he recognizes, including Bellamy and Emma. He tries his best to get through to them without hurting them, but ultimately gets injured, most of all by Peter spidey-punching him. He gets as many hostages he can out alive either by verbal persuasion or some good ol' sleeper chokeholds.

Character name and role: Cheryl Blossom, rescuer (group 3)

Summary of event participation: After hearing that her friends (and others) were kidnapped, Cheryl sets out with a group to rescue hostages. She picks a fight with a fellow rescuer old enough to be her grandfather. After arriving at the wrong location, Cheryl and the others eventually find the hostages at a second location. One of the hostages attacks her but they hug it out.

Summary of event participation: Takasugi carried out several interrogations at the behest of the radicals he was working with. Both PCs and NPCs were pressed for information, often violently. When the rescuers arrived, he did not immediately slip away, instead trying to buy time for his criminal comrades to gather what they needed and escape. When he witnessed his allies faced with insurmountable odds, he tried to divert the rescuer's attention rather than face the intruder head on in a costly battle. In the chaos, Takasugi killed a few cadets who were attempting to flee the fight and finished off several hostage NPCs who had been sleeping for days. He fled along with the last wave of radicals - when they scattered, he made his way back to Wyver.

Character name and role: Nash Latkje | Rescuer (Group 1)

Summary of event participation: Nash was a rescuer in group one, helping tracking down the hostages that were trapped in the Institute. He was foiled by the anti-magic haze the extremists set up, suffering burns, but managed to personally rescue Prior Walter, giving him Nash's breathing mask. After the fight, he offered his limited healing magic to hostages and fellow rescuers.

Summary of event participation: Prior was taken on his way home from work, by someone he'd noticed following him. He called Byerly Vorrutyer to let him know he was being followed but was unable to escape in time. As a hostage, Prior comforted fellow captives including Yona and Clair, and underwent torture which resulted in him going blind. He was also given liln which have left significant scars and made him hallucinate that Cayde and Richie were his former partner, Louis. In the rescue he was given Nash's rebreather. He's now recovering, though refusing most treatment, and his revelatory powers are going skewy having been separated from him for so long.

Summary of event participation: Clair was kidnapped by extremists while in the park with Percy—she was knocked out and taken to a storage room in the robotics lab, where she then proceeded to make herself the angriest and most uncooperative hostage ever. She tried to fight the captors or escape from the storage room multiple times, despite the fact that it only earned her more shocks from her cuff. She was also subject to lots of fun interrogations and torture with potions and the liln! Finally, she was rescued by Yusuke, who gave her his rebreather and hauled her ass away.

Summary of event participation: steve was kidnapped during a simple, mundane grocery run, which meant he was without his shield or armour. he woke up in a classroom and attempted to keep morale alive amongst fellow captives, survive the beatings and the dream-torture, and help others defeat the creature in dreams. he fell into something of a coma at the end of it and required external help via wanda maximoff in order to wake up from the dream-world, which he'd begun to believe was the real world. he spent three days in the sanctuary recovering before he was released. he is pissed off, both at himself and at whoever it is that kidnapped them aaand he intends to get to the bottom of this once he's got his wits about him again.

Summary of event participation: Claire was kidnapped on her way home from the Sanctuary. She did her best to comfort her fellow captives, but when she was taken for interrogation and given a potion that made her skin slough off, that sort of went out the window. She was rescued, recovered some at the Sanctuary before wanting to be back at her home in the city where she can wallow for a bit until her morale recovers, as that took the biggest hurt.

Summary of event participation: Emma was taken hostage while finishing up her Royal Guard duties for the day. She woke up and found it difficult to get to the door where they were being held, but tried to get there constantly. When tortured, she expressed an interest in peace between the two lands. She received support from her other hostages and had Steve Trevor try to help her overcome the brainwashing. After rescued, Wanda explained what had happened and Emma reluctantly agreed to taking some time to heal before trying to help anyone else.

Summary of event participation: Alisaie fought off several shamans, helped to free the hostages, and carted several boxes of antidotes to safety outside of the tower, once the fires started.

Character name and role: Jamie Fraser, Hostage (Group 1)
Thread(s): Top-level. There are a few tag outs as well if you need those.
Summary of event participation: Jamie was kidnapped likely on the streets without his wife by his side which is why they're both surprised to find the other has been taken. Due to Jamie having come off a previous captive situation that left rather extensive mental scarring he shut down to almost everyone except his wife when he was taken in. He refused to eat the food provided or leave his wife's side. He took a beating when his wife was taken for interrogating and refused to talk when he had his own. He was injected with something and when he returned to the group he eventually found himself blind. With his wife's skin getting worse and worse his worry for her grows. When the rescuers do arrive he almost goes willingly until he hits the haze with Rumlow. He puts up a blind and wild fight trying to go back and carry Claire out, but all he does is prolong his exposure to the haze. Rumlow is forced to shoot him in the leg to subdue him and carry him out in the end.

Summary of event participation: Yusuke works with his fellow rescuers against the lab security as they shuffle people out; he burns himself like an idiot, but manages to save Clair and bring her to safety, as well as an NPC or two. Richie fares less well—they escape, but he succumbs to the effects of the haze and dies shortly thereafter.
